5 Candles and One Giant...

On July 3rd, 2005, we first opened our doors for a “sneak preview” to see if anyone would notice our humble little used bookshop. We were so pleased by how many came. Then our official grand opening was July 7th, and it still remains one of the biggest days of our lives. In the course of these five years we have experienced many changes ... including little Aaron growing to be almost as tall as Sam!

It is with your constant support that we have more than tripled (probably at this point quadrupled!) our used book inventory, made a major expansion into new books, hosted a wide variety of author and community events, and become a true contributor to the vitality of downtown Lititz. In this year alone we again doubled our stock of new books, added e-books and audio books to our website, launched a community programs initiative, have been profiled in a daily industry newsletter (Shelf Awareness) and debuted our new "look" with new logo, website, and a completely remodeled store.

As we enter our sixth year, we are in the final planning stages for our second Lititz Kid-Lit Festival (what a great time we had with the first one!), and we are looking forward to hosting teachers and librarians at our first ever Back To School Night in August. Also new this year, we can now announce a new partnership the Council of Friends of Lancaster County Public Libraries to bring nationally-recognized bestselling authors into larger venue events for the whole county to enjoy.

To celebrate these incredible five years, we want to say “thank you” to you in several ways over the next few weeks:

* From now through July 9, spend $20 and become eligible to win a SIGNED copy of "Independent Dames" by bestselling and award-winning children and YA author, Laurie Halse Anderson.

* There’s CAKE at Aaron’s Books during 2nd Friday. (Meet fantasy author Jon Sprunk and learn about his debut novel that night too!)

* Any purchases made on July 8-10 are automatically 5% off!
We have one more way we are celebrating our 5th birthday ... and it all started with a blog post idea from Todd; five books in five years. (See below.)

Enjoy and happy reading for many years to come!
