Local Writer Speaks About Her Journey From Homelessness to Author at Aaron’s Books

Aaron’s Books welcomes author Sara R. Rock of Chambersburg, as she discusses her book I Was Just Minding My Own Business When…. (Publish America, $24.95) on Thursday, September 24 at 7pm.

I Was Just Minding My Own Business When…. is the hilarious true tale of David Jay Rock, a mild-mannered veteran United States Naval Reserve cook and his wife Sara, a talented and high-strung industrial engineer who finds herself in life’s funny episodes everywhere she goes. Her philosophy is “You may experience turbulence just hang on for the ride.” In their first fourteen years of marriage, their incredible journey begins with a naked, unconscious large man in a pool of water, continuing with throwing baseballs at rednecks and then to shamefully mooning “Children of the Corn.” No one was safe from them. Heaven help us all! (Publish America)

Sara will be sharing the inspirational journey she took while writing the book, from first learning of losing her home to living in an abandoned building and getting help from local librarians and aid agencies, to making her dream of publishing a book a reality. Her story is one of great perseverance in a time of tribulation. She will also speak about working with her learning disability while becoming a writer.

Along with the discussion and signing there will be refreshments and door prizes for attendees, as Sara’s thank you to the local community for supporting her efforts. This event is free and open to the public, no reservations are required. Call Aaron’s Books at 717-627-1990 for more information.
