Wanna Get Lucky? by Deborah Coonts is one of the best love story/murdery mystery combinations I've read in a while. Fast paced, funny, irreverent, and intriguing, it will keep you turning pages until the very end.
Lucky O'Toole is the head of customer relations at a major Las Vegas casino. She likes fast cars, gorgeous guys, and expensive clothes.
Having grown up in the city built around sin and corruption, Lucky knows that anything that happens in Vegas is rarely what it seems.
When a young woman takes a dive from a helicopter owned by her casino and with her boss in the back seat, Lucky realizes that there is something very wrong.
She goes on the hunt for the killer while juggling tech, sex, and swinger conventions. Along the way, she finds out some very interesting information about her mother (one of the area's best bordello operators), her boss, and who her friends really are. All of this while trying to decide if she really wants to take her relationship with her best friend to the next level. Theodore - aka Teddy Divine - just happens to be the top female impersonator on the strip and a gorgeous guy who is most definitely not gay. But does she really want to fall in love with someone who looks better in her dresses than she does?
This is a dark, outrageous, hilarious murder mystery/love story that shows Las Vegas at its best - and worst. If you're in the mood for a light, fun mystery twined with a great love story, definitely pick this one up.
